How do I choose the right pet insurance?
Original Question: Hi I am shopping for pet insurance. Can you share your thoughts on what to look for in a policy? - Michelle
Thanks for your question.
Buying insurance is a very personal decision that must be based on your feelings about risk and comfort about cost. No one buys insurance hoping to use it but it can certainly improve your sense of security in the face of unforeseen illnesses.
It’s a very common question which we have answered in a video, ‘Should I Get Pet Insurance?‘ and have also written an article, ‘Is Pet Insurance Right for You’. I’m certain these resources will be of use. They discuss generalities because every policy is different. You should always have to read the fine print and take the time to truly understand the policy outline. Having a discussion with your vet is also a good idea.
Best of luck.
