Is raw food for senior dogs safe for them to eat?

A plate of raw cubed pork

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for your question.

At 15 years old, I think raw food for senior dogs is okay for them to eat but just make sure you’re working with your veterinarian to do it safely. As for the fecal incontinence, changing the diet may just be a way to deal with the symptom but not the cause. I would recommend you see your veterinarian and discuss the possible reasons why the incontinence exists. There are a few possible causes such as GI parasites, neurological disease, colitis, senility and others that could be treated so that the condition does not progress. I encourage you to watch our video about feeding cats and dogs raw food for more information on this topic.

I hope this helps.
